STATIC ELECTRICITY — and absence magnetic water the phenomenon connected with accumulation of electric charges on a body surface or in volume of substance and which is characterized by existence electric.

Except natural (electrization of snow at the lowered humidity, especially in the conditions of Far North and Antarctica), there is a large number of artificial sources of education of S. e., napr, high-voltage power lines of a direct current, production polymeric and plasts, electrocolouring, processes of processing of wool, silk, oil products, a number of processes in the furniture, woodworking, paper and printing industry. The floors covered with linoleum or polyvinyl chloride tiles clothes from synthetics are sources of education of S. e. on a body surface of the person.

Standard theory biol. S.'s actions e. does not exist. Most of researchers consider that at the heart of S.'s action e. the mechanism lies it-roreflektorny. S.'s action e. it is expressed in direct irritation of sensitive nerve terminations of skin or the irritation arises for the second time, due to polarization of cellular elements and change of the ionic relations in fabrics. The irritation of sensitive nerve terminations causes reaction of all organism: skin sensitivity changes, the capillary blood stream is stimulated, the vascular tone changes, a number of system shifts, including changes in c is observed. the People who are exposed to long influence of S. e., complain of increased fatigue, irritability, a bad dream, etc. Tendency to arterial hypertension, bradycardia, a dermographism is objectively noted that testifies to a spasm and dystonia of vessels. At nek-ry psychophysiological tests the quantity of mistakes increases. S.'s action e. it is not specific and does not cause a certain disease.

Treatment of the arising changes symptomatic.

For prevention of adverse action of S. e. generally next ways of protection are applied: prevention of emergence of charges of S. e. or decrease in their generation; removal of charges from the electrified materials; restriction of time of stay of the person under the influence of S. e. The first two ways realize by means of technical means — antistatic drugs, converters, the shielding devices, antistatic footwear, gloves, dressing gowns etc. Time of stay under the influence of S. e. it is regulated by the relevant sanitary and hygienic standards (admissible electrostatic intensity); according to standards of 1977 admissible tension in workplaces shall not exceed at influence till 1 o'clock — 60 sq.m, at influence of St. 1 hour admissible tension (E top ) is determined by a formula: (E top = 60/√ t, where t — time in hours.
