SOM Georgy Pavlovich (sort. in 1917) — the Soviet microbiologist and the epidemiologist, the member correspondent of AMH (1980).
Having ended in 1941 the 1st Leningrad medical in-t, served in the Navy. Participated in defense of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, exercising control for a dignity. - epid. wellbeing of «Road of Life». Further the dignity directed various. - epid. Navy laboratories. Since 1961 the manager works in Vladivostok in-those epidemiology and microbiology at first. department, and since 1963 the deputy director on scientific work. Since 1967 the doctor of medical sciences, since 1968 professor.
G. P. Somov is an author apprx. 190 scientific works, including 3 monographs and 3 copyright certificates devoted to studying of natural focal infections. He participated in carrying out complex studying of a pseudotuberculous infection at the person — the Far East scarlatiniform fever, and also a North Asian tick-borne rickettsiosis. In 1963 — 1965 participated in the expedition which opened fever of a tsutsugamusha in the Far East; investigated the centers of its distribution on Kuril islands, Sakhalin, southwest areas of Primorsky Krai. G. Somov investigated the phenomenon of a psikhrofilnost (i.e. abilities to breed at low temperatures) pathogenic microorganisms and value of this phenomenon for epidemiology of zoonoz.
G. P. Somov is the chairman of the problem commission on natural and focal diseases of the Siberian department of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, the board member Vserossiyskogo about-va microbiologists and epidemiologists, the editor of red-department «Epidemiology» of BME, the member of a redsovet of «The magazine of microbiology, epidemiology and immunology».
It is awarded by awards of the Labour Red Banner, Patriotic war of the II degree, the Red Star (two), Friendship of the people and medals.
