ZIMNITSKY TEST ( S. S. Zimnitsky , 1873 — 1927, the Soviet therapist) — a method of definition of functional capacity of kidneys to osmotic concoction and osmotic cultivation; it is offered in 1922. Urine of the patient is collected every 3 hour in separate ware (in 9 — 12 — 15 — 18 — 21 — 24 — 3 — 6 hours). It is separately considered day (from 6 to 18 hours) and night (from 18 to 6 hours) diuresis. Investigate volume and ud. every portion wet weight. In case of need determine also the content of chlorides and urea.

During conducting test inspected is on a usual feeding and water relationships.

On the maximum ud. it is possible for weight you judge ability of kidneys to concentrate urine, and on the basis of the minimum ud. weight — about ability of kidneys to osmotic cultivation. The better function of kidneys is kept, the fluctuations ud are broader. weight of urine. A difference between maximum and minimum ud. it is powerful normal not less than 0,007. Falling maximum ud. the weight of urine lower than 1,018 it is necessary to consider pathological, it is equal as pathological monotonous minimum weight within is 1,008-1,012.

To estimate ud. the weight of urine follows about a nek-swarm care, considering that presence at urine of 1% of sugar raises ud. weight is at 0,0037,1 per milles, and a squirrel — on 0,00026. On ud. to weight S. S. Zimnitsky suggested to determine also approximately the content of urea in urine, considering that 2/3 its dense substances are the share of organic matters from which the share of urea is equal to 3/4. For calculation of amount of urea S. S. Zimnitsky made the special table of dependence of content of urea in urine from it ud. weight, however these calculations are not exact.

Total quantity of the urine removed per day usually makes 65 — 75% of the accepted liquid with dominance of a day portion over night.

Allocation of equal amount of urine day and night or dominance of a night diuresis (see. Nocturia ) confirms disturbance of rhythm of activity of kidneys, disturbance of their adaptation to changes biol, day-night rhythms.

At assessment of results 3. the item should consider influence of such factors as heart failure, increase or reduction of hypostases, diseases of a liver, sugar or not diabetes mellitus, administration of contrast solutions at a X-ray analysis of kidneys, parenteral food, reception of diuretics, etc.

3. the item is the convincing, simple and harmless method of inspection allowing to judge function of kidneys of the patient.
