YUSHCHENKO Alexander Ivanovich

YUSHCHENKO Alexander Ivanovich (1869 — 1936) is the Soviet psychiatrist, zasl. scientist of RSFSR, full member of Academy of Sciences of USSR; one of founders of the biochemical direction in psychiatry.

Ended medical f-t Kharkiv un-that in 1893. In 1896 defended the doctoral dissertation about a structure of sympathetic nodes at mammals and the person. In an initial stage of the scientific activity worked in the Kharkiv and Warsaw high fur boots under the leadership of P. I. Kowalewski, since 1897 — in St. Petersburg at department of neuropathology and psychiatry of VMA at

V. M. Bekhterev, and in 1901 — 1915 — in biochemical laboratory Ying-that experimental medicine, headed by I. P. Pavlov. Since 1915 worked in an insane hospital of Petrograd, then managed departments of psychiatry in high fur boots of Tartu, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don. Since 1929. A. I. Yushchenko worked in Ukrainian in-those psychiatry and a social psychohygiene (Kharkiv), and since 1932 — in the Ukrainian psychoneurological academy, a cut he was elected the first president.

A. I. Yushchenko published the St. 120 scientific works devoted to changes of enzymatic and oxidizing processes at psychoses and experimental endocrinopathies, to traumatic neurosis, a general paralysis at young men, to epidemic encephalitis and other problems; in the works it carried on S. S. Korsakov and V. M. Bekhterev's traditions in the field of the doctrine about the constitution, it is normal of a problem of the personality also at pathology. In 1912 there was its monograph «Essence of Sincere Diseases and Their Bio-logo-chemical Researches» which opened the recent (biochemical) trend in psychiatry.

A. I. Yushchenko created school of sciences, edges many years occupied one of the leading places in the Soviet psychiatry.
