TONKOV Vladimir Nikolaevich

TONKOV Vladimir Nikolaevich (1872 — 1954) is the Soviet anatomist, the academician of AMH (1944), zasl. scientist of RSFSR (1934). Lieutenant general of medical service. Member of the CPSU.

Ended VMA in 1895, worked at department of anatomy under the leadership of A. I. Tare-netsky. In 1898 protected dokt. the thesis on the subject «The Arteries Feeding Intervertebral Nodes and Spinal Nerves of the Person». It was improved in high fur boots of Germany, Austria, Switzerland. Since 1900 the department chair of anatomy St. Petersburg women's medical un-that. Since 1905 headed department of anatomy Kazan un-that, medical f-that was a dean; in 1907 Ob-in of public universities organized. Since 1915 the department chair of anatomy of VMA, and from 1917 to 1925 the chief of this academy. In 1918 together with A. M. Gorky headed the commission on improvement of life of scientists of Petrograd. Repeatedly was on reception at V. I. Lenin concerning development of science in the country.

V. N. Tonkov published St. 100 scientific works on a normal and comparative anatomy, histology, embryology. Its main researches are devoted to studying of vascular system, including collateral circulation. He opened new collateral arterial ways, for the first time determined consistent patterns of blood supply of intervertebral nodes, nerves and limf, nodes, proved an origin of a spleen from a mesenchyma, described multinucleate cells of a mesothelium. V. N. Tonkov entered into practice of an anatomic research rentgenol. method. He created the original textbook of normal anthropotomy which ran several editions, promoted use in teaching anatomy of functional approach, materials of X-ray anatomic researches, macro - and microscopic drugs, organized the anatomic museums in Kazan un-those and VMA.

V. N. Tonkov created large school of the Soviet anatomists, among his pupils B. A. Long Saburov, G.F. Ivanov, And. G1. Bystrov,

V. P. Kurkovsky, T. V. Suzdilov-sky, etc. He was an initiator of creation and one of organizers, and then and the chairman Vsesoyuznogo scientific about-va anatomists, histologists and embryologists.

It is awarded by the Orders of Lenin (two), Red Banners (two), Labour Red Banners, the Red Star and medals.
