THYREOIDINUM (Thyreoidinum; synonym: Thyranon, Thyroid, Thyrotan) — the medicine representing drug of hormones of a thyroid gland to-ry is received from the lyophilized thyroid glands of the lethal cattle. Effective agent of T. hormones of a thyroid gland are — thyroxine (see) and triiodothyronine (see).

T. represents hydroscopic powder of yellow-gray color, water-insoluble, alcohol and other solvents, possessing a specific smell. Drug is standardized on the content of integrally connected iodine, the quantity to-rogo in drug shall make from 0,17 to 0,23%.

T. increases the need of fabrics for oxygen, strengthens energy balance, stimulates growth and differentiation of fabrics, influences a functional condition of cardiovascular and nervous systems, a liver, kidneys, skin. T. activates a metabolism, strengthening a lipolysis and utilization by fabrics of glucose. On protein metabolism action of T. in different directions: in small doses it strengthens anabolic processes, in big — promotes disintegration of proteins. The T is soaked up. in a small bowel, its action on an organism begins approximately in 12 hours after reception. Catabolism of T. it is similar to a catabolism of thyroid hormones.

The main indications to use of drug are hypothyroidism (see), a sporadic and local craw (see. Craw sporadic , Craw local ), hron. thyroidites (see. Thyroiditis ). Sometimes T. apply at complex treatment obesity (see), nefroz and nek-ry forms of dystrophy at children (see. Dystrophy ).

Appoint T. inside under careful medical control, doses select strictly individually depending on degree of manifestation of a disease, age of the patient and existence of cardiovascular pathology. For adults a dose of T. usually makes 0,1 — 0,2 g on reception 2 — 3 times a day after food. At treatment of nefroz the dose of Thyreoidinum can be increased to 1 g a day.

The highest doses of T. for adults: one-time 0,3 g, daily 1 g; for children: up to 6 months — a single dose of 0,01 g, daily — 0,03 g, from 6 months to 1 year — a single dose of 0,02 g, daily — 0,06 g, at the age of 1 year — 2 years — a single dose of 0,03 g, daily — 0,09 g, at the age of 3 — 4 years a single dose of 0,05 g, daily — 0,15 g, at the age of 5 — 6 years — a single dose of 0,075 g, daily — 0,25 g, at the age of 7 — 9 years a single dose of 0,1 g, daily — 0,3 g, at the age of 10 — 14 years a single dose of 0,15 g, daily — 0,45 g. At a local and sporadic craw of T. appoint the adult in a dose 0,05 — 0,1 g every other day or daily, gradually raising a dose until the thyroid gland does not decrease in a size. At cancer of a thyroid gland appoint 0,2 — 0,3 g of drug, and in the presence of metastasises — to 1 g a day.

Main criteria of efficiency of a dose of T. at a hypothyroidism normalization of pulse, reduction and total disappearance of hypostases, improvement of the general state, decrease or normalization of indicators of contents are cholesterol (see) in blood. Action of T. it is clinically shown approximately in 2 — 3 days after the first administration of drug, the final effect is noted in 3 — 4 weeks.

At treatment of T. (especially at to overdose) emergence of tachycardia, perspiration, development of signs of a hyperthyroidism, stenocardia, deterioration in indicators of an ECG, weighting of a current of a diabetes mellitus is possible. Sometimes note displays of an allergy (a small tortoiseshell, a Quincke's edema, etc.).

Drug it is contraindicated at thyrotoxicosis (see), a diabetes mellitus (see. diabetes mellitus ), addisonovy disease (see), severe forms of insufficiency of coronary circulation (see).

Form of release: powder and tablets on 0,05 g, tablets, coated, on 0,1 and 0,2 g. Store as drug of the joint venture. B in well corked banks of dark glass in the dry cool place.
