TEBERDA — the climatic mid-mountain forest resort located on a northern slope of Greater Caucasus Range at the height of 1280 — 1420 m above sea-level in the valley of river of Teberda, in Klukhorsky district of the Karachay-Cherkess autonomous region of Stavropol Krai of RSFSR.

The resort is in the neighbourhood with Teberdinsky state reserve and occupies the space apprx. 18 km 2 . The picturesque landscape (the snow mountain tops, glaciers, the softwood and deciduous forests alternating with the Alpine meadows, lakes, mountain small rivers and falls) and very pure air exert beneficial influence on an organism. The major medical factor of the resort is the mountain climate which is characterized by a large number of sunny days during all seasons of year. Number of hours of sunshine in a year 1840. Air is rather dry. The highest relative humidity in July makes apprx. 53%. Summer moderately warm (average temperature of August 15 °), sometimes there is hot and dry weather and temperature increases to 36 °. Winter moderately soft (average temperature of January — 3 °), with frequent warming and temperature increase to plus. However in nek-ry years temperature went down to in the winter — 31 °. Steady snow cover remains from the middle of December until the end of February. Annual average amount of precipitation of 690 mm. V T. there are sanatoria, rest house, tourist and excursion base, mountaineering camps.

Indications to treatment in the resort: active pulmonary tuberculosis and nek-ry types of extra pulmonary tuberculosis.

Contraindications: chronic destructive processes in lungs with the expressed respiratory insufficiency and a repeated pneumorrhagia.
