SULFACETAMIDE (Sulfacylum; synonym: Albucid, Sulfanilacetamid etc.) — chemotherapeutic means from group of sulfanamide drugs. n-Aminobenzolsulfatsetamid; With 8 H 10 N 2 O 3 S:

White powder, water soluble (1:150); during the heating it is alcohol-soluble also acetone; it is insoluble on air.

On a range and the mechanism of antibacterial action it is similar to other sulfanamide drugs (see). Is streptocide of short action (the elimination half-life after intake makes apprx. 8 hours).

In medical practice the hl is applied. obr. in the form of well soluble sodium salt — Sulfacylum-natrium (Sulfacylum-natrium; synonym: Albucid-natrium, Sulfacetamide soluble, Sulfacetamidum Natricum, etc.; GFH, joint venture. Б).

Sulfacylum-natrium apply locally for treatment of conjunctivitis, blepharites, helcomas, a blennorea of newborns, and also for treatment of purulent wounds of various localization. In Ophthalmolum. to practice it is used in the form of 10 — 20 — 30% of solutions or 20 — 30% of ointment. For prevention of a blennorea by the newborn dig in in both eyes on 2 drops 30% of solution of Sulfacylum-natrium directly and in 2 hours after the birth. Wound and burn surfaces powder with sterile powder of Sulfacylum-natrium. At pneumonia, a tracheobronchitis and infections of uric ways Sulfacylum-natrium is applied inside or enter parenterally (intravenously slowly 3 — 5 ml of 30% of solution 2 times a day).
