SPASOKUKOTSKY Sergey Ivanovich (1870 — 1943) — the Soviet surgeon, the academician of Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1942), the winner of the State award (1942), zasl. scientist of RSFSR (1934).
In 1893 ended medical f-t Moscow un-that. For three years worked as the supernumerary intern in surgical clinic of JI. L. Levshina. In 1898 — 1909 the manager. surgical department Smolensk provincial territorial-tsy, and in 1909 — 1911 — Saratov city-tsy. Since 1912 professor of department of topographical anatomy and operational surgery, then the department chair of hospital surgical clinic Saratov un-that. From 1926 to 1943 the department chair of faculty surgical clinic of the 2nd MMI (till 1930 the 2nd MSU). Since 1927 manager. surgical sector Ying-that hemotransfusions, hl. surgeon of Medical and sanitary management of the Kremlin.
S. I. Spasokukotsky is the author of 143 scientific works, including 3 monographs. It dokt. the thesis «Bone plastics at amputations of extremities» (1898) was devoted to development of the ideas of N. I. Pirogov. S. I. Spasokukotsky — one of founders domestic went. - kish. surgeries. The new way of operational treatment of inguinal hernia which entered literature under the name «Girard's way — Spasokukotsky» is offered them, indications to radical stomach operations are developed. One of the first in Russia he began to make a resection at a peptic ulcer of a stomach, offered the modification of the operation which received the name «operation on Spasokukotsky — to Finsterer». Its works about feeding of the patients subjected to operation about impassability of intestines, about diseases of the operated stomach are important.
S. I. Spasokukotsky possesses a big merit in studying of chronic suppurations of lungs and a pleura and an actinomycosis of lungs. The state award USSR is awarded to it for development of methods of radical surgeries at pulmonary diseases and implementation of these methods in medical practice.
S. I. Spasokukotsky the first developed a deaf seam at bullet wounds of a skull and at wounds of an abdominal cavity with an internal injury. In the field of urology a number of operations is offered them: imposing of an anastomosis on a pelvis and an ureter, processing of a stump of an ureter, etc. Together with I. G. Co-cherginym he created the way of processing of hands of the surgeon which received the name «Spasokukotsky's way — Kochergina».
In S. I. Spasokukotsky's clinic studying of indications and contraindications to hemotransfusion in surgery was begun. Under its management problems of conservation of blood, its transportation, use of cadaveric and scrap blood, and also questions of creation of the domestic equipment, the organization of branches Ying-that hemotransfusions were developed.
S. I. Spasokukotsky created school of the Soviet surgeons, representatives a cut are A. N. Bakulev, E. L. Berezov, A. V. Gulyaev, B. I. Kazansky, I. G. Kochergin, B. E. Linberg, P. L. Seljtsovsky, etc. the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences is founded an award of S. I. Spasokukotsky.
S. I. Spasokukotsky was twice elected the deputy of the Moscow Council, was a board member Vsesoyuznogo about-va surgeons, the editor of the New Surgical Archive magazine, the associate editor of a number of magazines.
It is awarded by the Orders of Lenin, the Labour Red Banner, medals. The name of S. I. Spasokukotsky is appropriated to faculty surgical clinic of the 2nd MMI of N. I. Pirogov.
