SNEZHNEVSKY Andrey Vladimirovich (sort. in 1904) — the Soviet psychiatrist, the academician of AMH (1962), Hera of Socialist Work (1974), the winner of the State award USSR (1976). The member of the CPSU since 1945.

In 1945 — 1950 the associate professor of psychiatry of TsIU. In 1949 protected dokt. the thesis on a subject about senile dementia. In 1950 — 1951 the director of scientific research institute of judicial psychiatry of V. P. Serbian, since 1951 the department chair of psychiatry of TsIU. Since 1961 the director Ying-that psychiatry of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, since 1982 the director of All-Union scientific center of mental health of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences.
A. V. Snezhnevskiya — the author more than 100 scientific works, including the textbook and monographs. Its researches are devoted to questions of the general and private psychiatry. He developed questions of the general psychopathology, classification of mental diseases, clinics of endogenous psychoses, psychoses of late age, schizophrenia and maniac-depressive psychosis, boundary frustration, a pathogeny of psychoses, psychopharmacologies. It described the protragirovanny symptomatic psychoses which afterwards received the name of «intermediate», the clinic is studied and methods of treatment of an accident and contusional syndrome are developed, patterns of development of senile dementia are revealed.
The big place in A. V. Snezhnevsky's researches is occupied by problems of clinic, treatment and a pathogeny of endogenous psychoses and, first of all, schizophrenia. Based on the dynamic principle of studying of mental diseases («psychiatry of a current»), he with the pupils developed the new systematics of forms of schizophrenia important for definition clinical and social to the forecast. This classification was a basis for development of the pathogenetic direction in studying of schizophrenia, including genetic, immunological, biochemical and other biological aspects. Under its management the first in our country researches on psychopharmacotherapy are conducted. A. V. Snezhnevsky's works about a ratio of a sindromologiya and a nosology, and also about a ratio of the mental constitution and a disease have all-methodological value.
A. V. Snezhnevsky was the academician-secretary of Department of clinical medicine of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1966—1968, 1969—1976), he is the chairman of Scientific council on psychiatry of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, the member of presidium All-Union scientific about-va neuropathologists and psychiatrists, the honorary member of scientific foreign countries, medical about-in a row, the editor-in-chief redotdet «Psychiatry» of BME, hl. editor of «Magazine of neuropathology and psychiatry of S. S. Korsakov».
It is awarded by the Orders of Lenin (two), awards of the Labour Red Banner (four), an award of the Red Star, medals.
