SLENIK-MOLDOVA (Slanicul Moldovei) — balneal, hl. obr. drinking, the resort in the Socialist Republic of Romania, is located in the field of Bacau, in the valley of the river Slenik in the foothills of East Carpathians, at the height of 530 m above sea-level.
The resort is surrounded high (to 1600 m) with the mountains covered with a mixed forest, protecting it from cold norths. The climate is soft, foothill. Summer warm (average temperature of June 17,8 °), winter soft (average temperature of January — 4,2 °). An annual amount of precipitation apprx. 630 mm.
The major medical factors of the resort are carbonic mineral waters, various on ionic structure and degree of a mineralization. For drinking treatment use low-mineralized carbonic sulfate-chloride sodium water of sources No. 1 and No. 3 and carbonic sulphatic aluminum-sodium water of a source No. 8 a bis, and also a source No. 5, water to-rogo the same structure, but contains also iron. Waters of these sources on to lay down. to properties are similar to the Yessentuki mineral waters No. 4 and No. 17. Apply to bathtubs, irrigations, flourishes, inhalations carbonic and hydrosulphuric hloridno-hydrocarbonate sodium waters of a source No. 12 and others with higher mineralization, with the content of iodine and hydrogen sulfide. On the value of natural resort factors of S.-M. compare to such known resorts as Vichy (see) and Karlovy Vary (see).
In the resort a balneolechebnitsa, the pool, policlinic with medical and diagnostic offices and laboratories, sanatoria and boarding houses function. Pouring of mineral waters in bottles is made.
Indications: diseases of the digestive system, kidneys and uric ways, female generative organs, peripheral nervous system, respiratory organs of not tubercular character, including professional, disbolism and endocrine diseases (gout, obesity, diabetes mellitus).
