SILICONES (synonym poliorganosiloksana) — synthetic high-molecular organosilicic compounds, oxygen-bearing. Silicone fluids (silicone oils), organosilicic rubbers (silicone rubbers) and organosilicic plastics belong to S. Silicone rubbers apply to electrical insulation of wires, production of rubber, from a cut do highly elastic transfusion tubes of blood, filter peristaltic pumps, autoanalyzers, various prostheses (e.g., prostheses of valves of heart), etc. Silicone oils use for preparation of heatresistant lubricants, giving to various materials of water repellency, etc.; silicone plastics — for production of electric insulating varnishes, glues, fibreglasses.

Chemical properties C. depend on a structure of backbones and on structure of the organic framing groups, and also on size a pier. weight (weight) of polymer. Pages can be the colorless liquids, elastomers capable to crystallization, or pitches. All of them are good dielectrics, heat-resistant, of a gidrofobna, are physiologically inert, frost-resistant.

Professional harm by production the same S., as by production of other organosilicic connections (see. Silicon ).
