SHUMAKOV Valery Ivanovich

SHUMAKOV Valery Ivanovich (sort. in 1931) — the Soviet surgeon, the member correspondent of AMH (1978), the winner of the State award USSR (1971), zasl. inventor of RSFSR (1978).

Member of the CPSU.

Ended in 1956 the 1st MMI and in 1959 a postgraduate study in same in-those. Also the experiment of alny surgery of M3 of the USSR (nowadays All-Union scientific center of surgery of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences) worked at department of hospital surgery of the 1st MMI and in the All-Russian Research Institute clinical. From 1966 to 1969 the head of laboratory of an artificial circulatory support and artificial heart, and from 1969 to 1974 — department of transplantation and artificial organs of All-Union scientific center of surgery of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences. Since 1974 the director of NIR! transplantation and artificial organs of M3 of the USSR. Doctor of medical sciences (1966), professor (1969).


V. I. Shumakov is the author of a number of scientific works, including 9 monographs. It with coauthors possesses 50 copyright certificates. V. I. Shumakov's researches are devoted to problems of organ transplantation, operational treatment of the acquired heart diseases, creation of the extracorporal and implanted artificial organs for long compensation of the broken or lost functions of natural bodies, development of prostheses of valves of heart, in particular a mitral valve prosthesis with the device for seamless mechanical fixing. Together with B. V. Petrovsky, N. A. Lopatkin and others it was conferred the State award USSR for development and deployment in a wedge, practice of renal transplantation.
