ShKLO — the balneoterapevtichesky resort in the Ukrainian SSR. It is located in 40 km from Lviv in the beauty spot on the left coast of river of Shklo, in a big pine forest park, at the height of 260 m above sea-level.

One of the oldest resorts of our country. First written references of treatment by waters III. treat the end of 16 century, they belong to the Polish doctor Wojciech Ochko. In 1617 Sh.'s sources were investigated and in detail described

the Resort of Shklo. Sleeping case of sanatorium of Shklo.

E. Sikstom; repeated, fuller, their research made B. Haget in 1795.

Climate of the resort moderately continental. Summer warm (average temperature of July 21 °), winter soft with unstable snow cover (average temperature of January — 4 °). Annual amount of precipitation apprx. 650 mm. Number of hours of sunshine apprx. 1500 a year.

The main to lay down. factors: mineral waters and peat dirt. Mineral waters of the valley of river of Shklo belong to the Truskavets field of mineral waters and belong to the low-mineralized sulphatic calcic waters containing hydrogen sulfide and also to low-mineralized hydrocarbonate sodium-calcium waters with the increased organic content. On the bank of river of Shklo there is a source of the mineral water close on structure to the Truskavets Naftu-sya water (so-called shklovsky «Naftusya») containing organic matters (0,0126 g/l) and a small amount of hydrogen sulfide. In the territory of the resort there are also waters of higher mineralization, with high content of hydrogen sulfide (like Izhevsk and Nemirovsky). Mineral waters use for bathtubs (sulphatic waters) and for drinking treatment (hydrocarbonate sodium-calcium waters). Peat dirt has silnokisly reaction and contains a large amount of bitumens and sulfur compounds of iron, calcium and other mineral substances.

In the resort the sanatorium, the bathing building, mud baths function.

Indications for treatment in the resort: diseases of a liver and bilious ways, went. - kish. path, urological diseases. Mud cure is shown at associated diseases of a musculoskeletal system, peripheral nervous system and female generative organs.
