SCHRÖDER of VAN-DER-KOLK Jacob (Schroeder van der Kolk Jacob Ludwig Conrad, 1797 — 1862) is the Dutch psychiatrist, the anatomist and the physiologist.

Got a medical education in Groningen. Doctor of medicine (1820). In 1821 — 1827 worked in hospital in Amsterdam. In 1827 — 1860 was professor of anatomy in Utrecht un-those; along with 1842 held a position of the inspector of insane hospitals of Holland.

Ja. Schröder of van-der-Kolk entered history of psychiatry as one of early researchers and founders of anatomo-physiological studying of mental diseases. Its researches of microscopic structure and function of an oblong and spinal cord, and also the original guide to diagnosis and therapy of mental diseases became widely known. The works on studying of blood supply of a brain and a role of its disturbances performed by it in development of psychoses are of interest.
