SCHMIDT Evgeny Vladimirovich (1905 — 1985) is the Soviet neuropathologist, the academician of AMH (1963), Hera of Socialist Work (1975), the winner of the State awards of the USSR (1971, 1982).
After the termination in 1929 medical f-that Moscow un-that worked as the doctor, from 1931 to 1949 consistently was an intern, the assistant, the associate professor in clinic of nervous diseases of the 1st MMI.

Since 1949 the deputy director on scientific work of scientific research institute of neurology of AMN, since 1966 the director of it in-that. In 1950 protected dokt. the thesis on a subject about angioretikuloma of a brain; since 1953 professor.
E. V. Schmidt is an author apprx. 220 scientific works, including 8 monographs, on problems of vascular diseases of a brain, neurooncology, neurotraumatology, questions of semiotics and diagnosis of defeats of a nervous system, etc. A number of kliniko-anatomic works of E. V. Schmidt is devoted to the carcinomatosis of a meninx, angioretikuloma of a brain, changes of a brain causing development of syndromes of the progressing adynamia, cachexias poly-ditemii. In them on the basis of patogistologichesky researches dependence of nek-ry endocrine frustration and changes of blood on defeats of c is shown. N of page. It for the first time (1942) described a peculiar syndrome of defeat of motor and premo-even bark at gunshot wounds of a skull («splitting of a pyramidal syndrome»). A number of works is devoted to questions of clinic and diagnosis of the phantom of amputated.
E. V. Schmidt conducted the researches which showed a role of damages of carotid and vertebral arteries in a pathogeny of disturbances of cerebral circulation. For these researches E. V. Schmidt was conferred the State award USSR. It executed a cycle of works on epidemiology of the vascular diseases of a nervous system which formed a scientific basis of prevention of strokes; these works are also noted by the State award USSR. To E. V. Schmidt awards of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences of H are awarded. N. Burdenko (1952) for work «Angioretikuloma of a brain» and of V. M. Bekhterev (1966) for monograph «the Stenosis and thrombosis of carotid arteries and disturbance of cerebral circulation». He created school of sciences of angionevrolog.
E. V. Schmidt was the chairman of Scientific council on neurology at the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, the member of the committee on Lenin and State awards of the USSR at Council of ministers of the USSR, the associate editor and the editor-in-chief of department «Neurology» of BME, the deputy editor-in-chief of the Clinical Medicine magazine and the associate editor of «Magazine of neuropathology and psychiatry of S. S. Korsakov». He was the Honorary Chairman Vsesoyuznogo scientific about-va neuropathologists and psychiatrists, the honorary member neurologic about-in Bulgaria, GDR, Poland, Czechoslovakia, the USA and France.
It is awarded by two Orders of Lenin, an award of the October Revolution, two awards of the Labour Red Banner, the award «Sign of Honour» and medals.
