SCHENK Alexey Konstantinovich (1873 — 1943) is the Soviet orthopedist, the balneologist, professor (1919).
After the termination in 1897 VMA worked in surgical clinic, and then from 1903 to 1917 in Kleene
ke orthopedics of academy under the leadership of G. I. Turner. In 1910 protected dokt. the thesis on the subject «Achondroplasia at the Person». In 1917 headed Physio-about r topedichy a cue of in-t in Yevpatoria.
From 1919 to 1924 the associate professor, and then professor of department of orthopedics medical f-that Simferopol un-that (nowadays Crimean medical in-t). In
1924 — 1929 directed orthopedic department of the Central resort clinic of NKZ RSFSR in Moscow (since 1926. Central in-t of balneology). Since 1929 and until the end of life there was a manager. orthopedic department State in-that physical therapy and orthopedics of NKZ RSFSR (since 1958 the in-volume of balneology is integrated with Central and nowadays the Central scientific research institute of balneology and physical therapy of M3 of the USSR carries the name).
A. K. Schenk is an author apprx. 90 scientific works devoted to various questions of orthopedics, physical therapy and balneology, including orthopedics and a resort therapy of patients with bone tuberculosis. On its initiative and under its management in the Crimea the USSR's first aktinometrichesky station for studying of activity of sunlight was created; the measuring technique of a dose of solar radiation developed by P. G. Mezernitsky in calories is entered into practice; dosing of solar bathtubs taking into account all elements of a microclimate of the resort of Yevpatoria is applied. The technique of the round-the-clock stay of patients with bone tuberculosis in the open air (under tents) within summer months was offered them.
A. K. Schenk made the significant contribution to transformation of Yevpatoria to the All-Union children's health resort.
