Samoylov is the author of the St. 210 printing works devoted to hl. obr. to development of diagnostic methods (focal tuberkulinovy test), treatment and prevention of tuberculosis of an eye; to problems of intraocular pressure, pathogeny and diagnosis of glaucoma; neuroophthalmologies. It invented the mirror capsular manometer, pilokarpinovy test at glaucoma is offered, are developed a quantitative papillometriya for definition of a stage of development of a congestive optic disk and a local pupillografiya; it described a phenomenon of professional anesthesia of a cornea at turners. Under the leadership of A. Ya. Samoylov 15 doctors and more than 40 candidates of science are prepared. He was an editor of red-department «Ophthalmology» in 2 prod. BME.
