RUGBY — sports team game with a ball. For a game use a ball of an oval form, the Crimea can be played hands and legs. Duration of a game — two times 40 min. with a five-minute break; two teams on 15 people participate in a game.

The power fight accompanying a game, often replaced game situations, high rate of a game impose high requirements to physical fitness of rugby players. They shall own equally well qualities of the basketball player (a game hands), the athlete (run), the fighter (power fight) and the football player (a game legs). R.'s occupations promote harmonious development of an organism, strengthening of cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems, development of strong-willed qualities, endurance, speed of movements, dexterity, force, help to cultivate courage, feeling of a collectivism. The main contraindications for R.'s occupations are diseases of c. N of page, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, musculoskeletal system. R. to boys allow to begin occupations from 10 — 11 years, participation in competitions is allowed after 1 — 1,5 years of regular trainings. Because R. is one of the most difficult sports and is connected with considerable loadings, for rugby players strict is established medical control (see). The most typical injuries of rugby players are injuries of crucial ligaments of a knee joint, stretching and ruptures of ligaments of ankle joint, dislocations of phalanxes of fingers, a shoulder and seldom fractures of bones of extremities. For effective prevention of injuries a first-priority role is played by appropriate technical training of players, carrying kneecaps and ensuring good shape of places of trainings and competitions.
