POPOV Nikolay Vladimirovich (1894 — 1949) — the Soviet judicial physician, one of organizers of forensic medical examination in the USSR; professor (1927). The member of the CPSU since 1940.

In 1917 N. V. Popov ended medical f-t Moscow un-that, worked in the same place at department of the forensic medicine headed by P. A. Minakov. Since 1927 the department chair of forensic medicine in Smolensk. From 1932 to 1939 N. V. Popov is a director Research in-that forensic medicine Narkomzdrava of the USSR and the manager. joint department of forensic medicine of the 1st and 2nd MMI; at the same time (1937 — 1939) Chief forensic scientist Narkomzdrava of the USSR. Since 1939 until the end of life of the department chair of forensic medicine and since 1945 the deputy director by a scientific part of the 2nd MMI.

N. V. Popov published St. 50 scientific works, including 5 monographs devoted to use of methods of hematology, a serology, isoserology and toxicology in forensic medicine. N. V. Popov by right is considered the creator of judicial hematology, one of sections of forensic medicine, it developed spectral techniques of definition of hemoglobin and ©го derivatives, methods of establishment of blood groups in spots, types of blood, etc. N. V. Popov's researches on a Rhesus factor, etc. promoted successful use of hemotransfusion in the period of the Great Patriotic War of 1941 — 1945.

3 textbooks on forensic medicine for legal and medical higher education institutions are written to them. N. V. Popov was an editor of numerous collections of works on forensic medicine and hemotransfusion. In 1947 — 1949 it was elected the member of presidium All-Union and Moscow about-in judicial physicians and criminalists.
