POLYGRAPHY in a radiology (grech, there is a lot of + grapho to write, represent poly; synonym X-ray polygraphy) — a method of a repeated X-ray analysis of body or a part of a body on the same x-ray film. It is applied to registration of change of situation, a form and size of body, a part of body or a part of a body (a stomach, a renal pelvis and cups of a bladder, a diaphragm, edges, etc.).
Items use for a research of a vermicular movement of a stomach. For this purpose after hard filling of a stomach of barium sick with a suspension it is asked to hold the breath and do 3 pictures on the same x-ray film with an interval 10 — 15 sec. On a poligramma (triplogramma) owing to peristaltic reductions of a stomach 3 crossed contours (fig.) are formed. In those places where the wall of a stomach does not peristaltirut, napr, as a result of its tumoral infiltration, it is visible only one or two not crossed contours. More informative methods of a research of a vermicular movement of a stomach are X-ray television raying and X-ray cinematography (see).
Items use also for studying of motive function of a renal pelvis and cups — on one film with an interval 10 — 15 sec. make 3 consecutive pictures of previously contrasted pyelocaliceal system (see. Piyelografiya , Urography ). After contrasting of pyelocaliceal system on one film make 2 pictures for assessment of mobility of kidneys — on a breath and an exhalation. On the diplogramma received thus two images of cavities of a kidney corresponding to their arrangement on a breath and an exhalation are visible.
Items of a bladder apply (politsistografiya) to assessment of elasticity of its walls. The bubble is filled with a contrast agent (see. Tsistografiya ), then on one x-ray film make 3 — 4 pictures of a bubble in different phases of its emptying or filling. In a picture receive the image of several concentric shadows of a bladder; where the wall of a bubble is deprived of ability to reduction or stretching, only one contour is visible.
At all types of P. tension of electric current on a X-ray tube is increased on 3 — 5 kV in comparison with usual tension at a X-ray analysis, and the endurance is reduced according to quantity of pictures (e.g., by 3 times if the number of pictures is equal to three).
By means of P. study mobility of a diaphragm and edges for what on one film do 2 pictures of a thorax in phases of a deep breath and an exhalation (diplografiya). This method is applied seldom since there are more perfect methods P. of lungs with use of special lattices and applicators (see. X-ray pneumopolygraphy ). The visual or densitometrical analysis poligramm lungs (see. Rentgenodensitometriya ), made by means of these lattices, allows to estimate mobility of edges and a diaphragm more precisely.
