POLITTSERA-FEDERICHI EXPERIENCE

From Big Medical Encyclopedia

POLITTSERA-FEDERICHI EXPERIENCE ( A. Politzer , Austrian otorhinolaryngologist, 1835 — 1920; F. Fe-derici) — a method of a research of hearing for the purpose of differential diagnosis of dysfunction of the sound carrying out and sound perceiving systems of the acoustic analyzer.

The leg of the sounding tuning fork is established on a trestle of an auricle (investigate air conductivity) in the beginning, and then on a mastoid (investigate bone conductivity). The research can be conducted with tuning forks of C128, S256, S512, S1024; the most convincing results receive with a tuning fork of C512. The result of experience is considered positive in that case when at the patient air conductivity, napr prevails, at neuritis of an acoustical nerve. At dysfunction of the sound carrying out system patients hear better if the leg of a tuning fork is established on a mastoid, but not on a trestle of an auricle. In this case bone conductivity prevails and the result of a research is considered negative.
