POKROVSKY Vladimir Aleksandrovich (1896 — 1971) — the Soviet obstetrician-gynecologist, professor (1940), zasl. scientist of RSFSR (1959).

In 1922 ended medical f-t Moscow un-that. Since 1935 the department chair of obstetrics and gynecology Khabarovsk medical in-that, and since 1944 and until the end of life — Voronezh medical in-that. In 1939 protected dokt, the thesis about genital tuberculosis.

V. A. Pokrovsky published St. 100 scientific works, including 6 monographs, a number of heads and sections in textbooks and the multivolume guide to obstetrics and gynecology. Offered the classification of genital tuberculosis which gained wide recognition developed and gave anatomic justification to a technique of an infiltration anesthesia in obstetrics and gynecology. It possesses also researches on problems of clinic, classification and therapy of shock and patol, blood losses in obstetric practice. Together with pupils created pathomorphologic and clinical classification of precancerous conditions of a neck of uterus. Carried out by him morfol. researches of hems on a uterus showed advantages of Cesarean section in the lower uterine segment.

V. A. Pokrovsky was a participant of six international congresses of obstetricians-gynecologists. It was elected the deputy chairman Vserossiysky about-va obstetricians-gynecologists, the member of editorial councils of a number of medical magazines and the multivolume guide to obstetrics and gynecology, was an editor of a redotdel «Obstetrics and gynecology» of the 2nd prod. BME.

V. A. Pokrovsky is awarded the order the Labour Red Banner and medals.
