PENTAMETHYLENEDIAMINE

From Big Medical Encyclopedia

PENTAMETHYLENEDIAMINE (Latin cadaver a corpse) — α,ε-пентаметилендиамин (1,5 diaminopentane), a product of enzymatic decarboxylation of a lysine (α,ε-диаминокапроновой to - you); it is formed at bacterial decomposition of proteins (rotting of meat, etc.); belongs to to ptomaines (see), group of ptomaine since it is formed also at decomposition of corpses; virulence is insignificant.

At the person To. it is formed in the course of life activity of a bacterial flora of a large intestine as a result of action decarboxylases (see), neutralization is carried out by enzyme of a mucous membrane of intestines — the diaminoxidase oxidizing To. to ammonia and the corresponding aldehyde. At cholera, a heavy gastroenteritis and a cystinuria soaked up in blood K. it is removed with urine in not changed look.

To. represents the colorless, siropoobrazny liquid smoking on air, a pier. weight (weight) 102,18, t ° kip 178 — 180,5 °, ud. weight 0,885. To. let's well dissolve in water, alcohol, it is bad — on air, forms hydrates of C 4 H 14 N 2 - 2H 2 O. To. is the strong basis, its chemical properties are defined by two amino groups (like monoamines it reacts with the acylating agents etc.).

To. it is found in horns of an ergot, mushrooms fly agarics and boletuses, a henbane, a belladonna, a dope, in bleached-out sprouts of soy, etc. Along with putrestsiny and spermidine K. it is found in ribosomes of bacteria. It is possible that one of its functions is neutralization of the RNA phosphatic groups and maintenance of structure of ribosomes.
