METHINDIONUM (Methindionum) — antiepileptic means. 2-Metilamino-2-etilindandiona-1,3 hydrochloride; With 12 H 13 NO 2 - HCl:

Crystal powder, white or white with yellowish or pinkish shade. Let's easily dissolve in water and alcohol. Has the expressed anticonvulsant activity. Has no somnolent and sedative effect. Surpasses phenobarbital and other anticonvulsants in the width of therapeutic action. At patients with epilepsy of M. reduces diffusion and focal epileptiform bioelectric activity of a brain, reduces tension, malignancy. Patients become more sociable, their intellectual functions are improved, the focus of interest extends. The mechanism of antiepileptic action of M., obviously, is connected with its influence on exchange Y-amino-oil to - you and functions of limbic system of a brain.

The m is well soaked up from went. - kish. a path, easily gets through a blood-brain barrier. It is allocated through kidneys preferential in the form of demetilirovanny and dezaminirovanny metabolites.

M. apply at genuinical and symptomatic epilepsy with kloniko-tonic attacks and psychomotor paroxysms, and also at psikhopatol, (senestopathetic, hypochiondrial and dysphoric) states at patients with epilepsy.

Appoint inside the adult on 0,25 g on reception, at epilepsy with frequent attacks — on time in bucketed day 1,5 — 2 hours in a daily dose of 1,5 g. At rare attacks and psychopathological states the daily dose makes 1 — 1,25 g (on 0,25 g of 4 — 5 times a day).

In need of M. it is possible to appoint together with other antiepileptic means or tranquilizers of a benzodiazepine row (diazepam, etc.).

The m is usually well transferred and can be applied at patients with epilepsy of advanced and senile age. Side effect is observed seldom and shown by dizziness, nausea, vomiting, a tremor of fingers of hands; at the same time M.'s dose is lowered. Drug is contraindicated at the expressed concern and tension.

Form of release: tablets on 0,25 g. Keep in the dry, protected from light place.
