LINBERG Boris Edmundovich (1885 — 1965) — the Soviet surgeon, the doctor of medical sciences (1922), professor (1923), zasl. scientist of RSFSR (1943), winner of the Lenin award (1961). The member of the CPSU since 1939.

B. E. Linberg published apprx. 150 scientific works devoted generally to questions of chest surgery. In 1933 he organized the USSR's first specialized department of chest surgery, and in 1939 during the Soviet-Finnish conflict was an initiator of creation of specialized army hospital for wounded in a breast. B. E. Linberg one of the first in the USSR developed questions of surgical treatment of wounds of a breast and pulmonary suppurations and made successful operations of a lobectomy and pneumonectomy. He developed the closed drainage at a traumatic hemopneumothorax, a «ladder» thoracoplasty and a pleurectomy at empyemas of a pleura, a myoplasty of residual pleural cavities, a new method of plastics of the inguinal channel at hernias, modification of a scapular and chest resection of a shoulder girdle at malignant tumors. Under its management 35 theses, from them 13 doctor's are prepared. B. E. Linberg consisted the member International about-va surgeons (since 1928), the honorary member Vsesoyuznogo about-va surgeons, and also Moscow, Smolensk, Kuibyshev and Ryazan about - Was an editor of a redotdel «Surgery» in 2 prod. century. BME. It is awarded by the Orders of Lenin, the Labour Red Banner and medals.
