LANG Georgy Fedorovich (1875 — 1948) — the Soviet therapist, the founder of large school of the Soviet therapists, the academician of AMH (1945), zasl. scientist of RSFSR (1934), winner of the State award USSR (1951).

In 1899 ended VMA. In 1901 protected dokt, the thesis on a subject about osmotic firmness of red blood cells at a carcinoma of the stomach. From 1901 to 1919 the intern, then the manager. department Peter and Paul (nowadays of F. F. Erisman)-tsy. Since 1919 professor, the manager. therapeutic clinic Leningrad in-that improvements of doctors, and since 1922 the manager. faculty therapeutic clinic of the 1st Leningrad medical in-that.

G.F. Lang published St. 80 scientific works, including 3 monographs and the guide for doctors. He comprehensively developed questions of cardiology.

In 1922 he stated the first a view of a hypertension as on the independent disease which is not connected with primary damage of kidneys.

Further G. F. Lang's school came out considerable number of works on the basis of which by it it was constructed sovr, the doctrine about an idiopathic hypertensia as about the disease connected with disturbance of cortical and subcrustal nervous control of a vascular tone. The doctrine about an idiopathic hypertensia was stated in the monograph which appeared after the death of the author and conferred the State award USSR.

G.F. Lang possesses the first in our country kliniko-anatomic research of a ventriculonector. For the first time in the USSR he suggested to treat patients with a ciliary arrhythmia with quinidine. He showed communication of electrocardiographic changes with certain biochemical, disturbances in a cardiac muscle and offered the new term «dystrophy of a myocardium» for designation of diseases of a cardiac muscle which cornerstone reversible frustration biochemical and physical are. - chemical processes in heart of the exogenous and endogenous nature (see. Myocardial dystrophy ).

G.F. Lang created classification of diseases of the blood circulatory system, developed funkts, the direction in hematology. A number of scientific works of G. F. Lang is devoted to studying of diseases of a liver and pulmonary pathology. Its textbook by internal diseases for many years was the reference book of the Soviet therapists.

Among G. F. Lang's pupils there were A. L. Myasnikov, M. D. Tushinsky, B. G. Baranov, K. A. Kedrov. Its clinic left more than 20 professors, heads of clinics and laboratories. G.F. Lang was chairman Vsesoyuznogo about-va therapists (since 1943), the founder (together with M. P. Konchalovsky) both the editor of the Therapeutic Archive magazine and the editor of the Clinical Medicine magazine, was an editor-in-chief of department «Internal diseases» in 1 prod. BME. For the best works in the field of cardiovascular pathology the award of G. F. Lang is founded by the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1958).

It is awarded by the Orders of Lenin, the Labour Red Banner, Patriotic war of the I degree and medals.
