LANGE Nikolay Nikolaevich

LANGE Nikolay Nikolaevich (1858 — 1921) is a domestic psychologist, professor (1888), one of founders of the natural-science direction in domestic psychology.

In 1882 ended St. Petersburg un-t. In 1887 protected dokt, the thesis on a subject about psychological researches. From 1888 to 1921 the prof. of philosophy Odessa un-that. Book H. N. Lange «Psychology» (1914) was some kind of result of development of the most progressive tendencies in the Russian psychology of the beginning of 20 century. Its works along with trudamiv. M. Bekhterev, A. F. Lazursky, etc. were created by premises for development of materialistic psychology. H. N. Lange directed one of the first in Russia laboratory of experimental psychology at Odessa un-those. He experimentally proved and formulated the law of perception (1893) establishing the phase nature of process of perception, developed the motor theory of attention, proved a role of movements and actions in formation of mental processes, the first among psychologists estimated general-theoretical value of works of I. P. Pavlov for psychology. However materialism

of H. N. Lange was inconsistent, it stood on dualistic positions in the solution of a number of questions (e.g., a psychophysical problem).
