HOMENKO Alexander Grigoryevich

HOMYONKO Alexander Grigoryevich (sort. in 1926) — the Soviet phthisiatrician, the member correspondent of AMH (1980), the winner of the State award USSR (1982). The member of the CPSU since 1954.

In 1949 ended medical f-t Kharkiv medical in-that. From 1949 to 1951 the attending physician in tubercular sanatorium of Zanka of the Kharkiv region. From

1951 to 1965 worked at department of tuberculosis of Ukrainian in-that improvements of doctors (Kharkiv), from 1960 to 1965 managed this department. Along with 1961 for 1965 headed the Kharkiv scientific research institute of tuberculosis. In 1965 defended the doctoral dissertation on the subject «Clinical Options of Cavernous Forms of Tuberculosis and Their Treatment». From 1965 to 1969

worked in Geneva as the responsible specialist in tuberculosis of the secretariat of WHO. In 1970 headed department of tuberculosis of Ukrainian in-that again improvements of doctors (Kharkiv) where worked till 1973. Since 1973 the director of the Central scientific research institute of tuberculosis of M3 of the USSR.

And. G. Homenko is the author of St. 200 scientific works, including 7 monographs devoted to hl. obr. to questions of clinic, differential diagnosis and treatment of a pulmonary tuberculosis. On a basis kliniko-rentgenol. signs it described differences of a cavernous forkhma of a pulmonary tuberculosis from fibrous and cavernous (see Tuberculosis of a respiratory organs). For the researches devoted to studying of variability of mycobacteria of tuberculosis, medicinal stability and quantitative changes of miko-bacterial population in the course of chemotherapy of tuberculosis, A. G. Homenko is awarded the State award USSR.

A. G. Homenko is chairman Vsesoyuznogo scientific medical about-va phthisiatricians, the editor-in-chief re put a pillbox and «Phthisiology» of BME, the editor of the Problems of Tuberculosis magazine, the honorary member about-in ftiziopulmonolog of GDR, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and Yugoslavia, the member of executive committee of the International antitubercular union. He directed the organization and carrying out VIII (1973) and IX (1979) All-Union congresses of phthisiatricians.

It is awarded the order the Labour Red Banner and medals.
