GONIOMETRIYA (grech, gonia a corner + metreo to measure, measure) — measurement of dihedral angles by means of a goniometer; in medicine it is applied to measurement in degrees of amplitude of the movement of joints.

For a research of function of large joints of extremities of a branch of a goniometer (goniometer) have on long axes of the bones forming a joint, and combine an axis of a goniometer with a joint crack. Measure the initial position of a joint, its neutral position or a corner, under the Crimea the dynamic equilibrium of antagonistic muscles, and the angle of bending was established. Then determine amplitude of movements of a joint, calculating a difference between the angles of bending and extension.

For measurement of amplitude of movements of interphalangeal joints use a tiny goniometer, branches to-rogo are adapted for overlaying on the dorsal surfaces of phalanxes. The rotational movements measure by a goniometer of a special design, at to-rogo a motionless branch is established perpendicular to an axis of rotation of a mobile branch. Other models, e.g. Gamburtseva, in clinical practice are not applied.

For assessment patol, conditions of a joint need to be defined amplitude of both active, and passive movements. These goniometriya estimate by comparison with normal indicators — see. Joints .
