GLYUTETIMID (Glutethimidum; synonym: Noxyronum, Doriden, Glimid, Sarodormin; joint venture. B) — sleeping pill and calmative. 2,6-Diketo-3-etil-3-fenil-piperidin:

Colourless crystals, water-insoluble, alcohol-soluble. On G.'s activity concedes to barbiturates: causes less deep sleep, than phenobarbital (see), has unsharp anticonvulsant effect. The dream comes in 15 — 30 min. after administration of drug and 6 — 8 hour last. At strong excitement drug maloaktiven.

It is well soaked up from went. - kish. a path it is also quickly brought out of an organism.

Use drug preferential at neurotic states in a dose of 0,1 — 0,25 g. As sleeping pill G. is appointed before going to bed on 0,25 — 0,5 g. In surgery and obstetrics drug is used for the purpose of premedication on the eve of operation (enter at the rate of 10 laid down on 1 kg of weight of the patient, sometimes in combination with analgetics or tranquilizers at the rate of 8 laid down on 1 kg of weight) and in 1,5 hours prior to operation at the rate of 15 mg on 1 kg of weight. It is shown also in mild cases of epilepsy.

In usual doses of G. practically does not oppress breath, in rare instances causes insignificant side reactions in the form of nausea, dizziness, erubescence. It must be kept in mind that alcohol and calmatives strengthen G.'s action and consequently, and its toxicity. The help at poisoning the same G., as at poisoning barbiturates (see). As well as other hypnotic drugs, G. it is not necessary to apply it is long (possibly accustoming).

Form of release: tablets on 0,25 g
