GALLI-MAYNINI REACTION (Page of Galli-Mainini, the modern Argentina doctor) — the diagnostic method of early durations of gestation based on identification of a promoting effect of the chorionic gonadotrophin appearing in urine of pregnant women in early terms. Reaction is for the first time offered Galli-Maynini in 1947.

A chorionic gonadotrophin, without being specific women's or men's hormone, has equally promoting effect as on maturing of a follicle, an ovulation and formation of a yellow body, and on male gonads. At administration of the urine containing a chorionic gonadotrophin, to males of frogs their testicles increase, the spermatogenesis becomes more active.

- Masculine is applied for: 1) diagnoses of early durations of gestation (after 10 days of a delay of periods); 2) carrying out the differential diagnosis between pregnancy and a tumor of a uterus; 3) diagnoses of not developing pregnancy; 4) definitions of a vesical drift and a horionepitelioma (reaction in these cases is put with the urine divorced in 5 — 10 — 20 — 50 — 100 — 200 times.).

Technique of reaction

Technique of reaction: two males of lake frogs weighing 55 — 75 g, in a foul place to-rykh do not have spermatozoa, in limf, a bag (to the area of a lower part of a back) the syringe enter 2 — 3 ml of urine of the studied woman. The needle should be entered parallel to a back not to injure lungs. In 2 — 3 hours a pipette gather contents of a foul place and 1 — 2 drop place on a slide plate, cover with cover glass and consider in the darkened field at increase in a microscope by 300 — 400 times. Existence of spermatozoa confirms pregnancy. Spermatozoa usually show the expressed physical activity. Reaction is considered positive even in the presence of motionless spermatozoa. In the absence of spermatozoa the research of contents of a foul place is repeated in hour

- Masculine it is specific, gives the correct answer in 94 — 96% of cases. Advantage - Masculine before, Ashgeym's reaction — Tsondeka (see. Ashgeyma-Tsondeka reaction ) consists in speed of obtaining the answer and a possibility of use of frogs repeatedly. At positive reaction the same frog can be used in 7 — 10 days, at negative — in 2 — 3 days.
