FUMAGILLYN (synonym: fugillin.

fumidit) — the antibiotic produced by Aspergillus fumigatus. Activity F is described. concerning bacteriophages (see) streptococci and stafilokokk (suppresses development of bacteriophages in cells, but does not work on free a phage). Possesses amebotsidny action, especially concerning Entamoeba liistolytica (see the Amebiasis).

T. represents colourless crystals with g°1sh 191 — 193 °, on air collapses and loses antibiotic activity. Observations when treatment F are published. the patients suffering from an amebiasis of intestines yielded satisfactory results.

In the USSR in the State register of the pharmaceuticals allowed for use in medical practice and for industrial production, T. is not registered.
