FLORINSKY Vasily Markovic

FLORYNSKY Vasily Markovic (1834 — 1899) is a domestic

obstetrician-gynecologist, the historian of medicine. A. Ya. Krassovsky's pupil.

Graduated from Medicochirurgical academy in 1858 and it was left at department of obstetrics ii of female diseases. In 1861 protected dokt. the thesis on «About Ruptures of a Crotch at the Time of Delivery» then two years it was improved on obstetrics and female diseases in clinics of Germany, France, England and other countries. From 1863 to 1875 professor of obstetrics and gynecology of Me-diko - surgical academy, at the same time in 1865 — 1870 headed the Russia's first department of children's diseases. From 1877 to 1885, professor Kazan un-that. Since 1885 was a trustee of the West Siberian educational district.

V. M. Florinsky is an author apprx. 30 works on various problems of obstetrics and gynecology. He one of the first began to apply chloroform to a labor pain relief, offered an original method of the prevention of ruptures of a crotch at the time of delivery (see the Crotch), studied gistol. structure of a uterus. V. M. Florinsky possesses also the researches on history of traditional medicine in particular devoted to national herbalists and doctor books (see). He was engaged in archeological excavations of barrows of Western Siberia and Semirechya, published work about life of ancient Slavs.
