ETAZOLUM (Aethazolum; synonym: Atha-zol, Berlophen, Globucid, Sulfaethi-dole, Sulphaethylthiadiazole, etc.;

GFH; joint venture. B) — chemotherapeutic means from group of sulfanamide drugs. 2-(Para-ami-nobenzo of l sul famido) - 5-ethyl-1,3,4-ti-adiazol; C10H12N4O2S2:

White or inodorous slightly yellowish powder. Let's easily dissolve in diluted acids and alkalis, it is difficult alcohol-soluble, we will not dissolve in water and ether. Pier. weight (weight) 284,36; * °pl 186 — 190 °.

On a chemical structure, properties and the mechanism of action it is close to Norsulfazolum (see) and to other sulfanamide drugs (see). Like other drugs of this group, has activity concerning streptococci, pneumococci, meningokokk, gonokokk, colibacillus and causative agents of bacterial dysentery. Hour belongs to streptocides of short action with an elimination half-life apprx. the 7th. It is quickly soaked up from went. - kish. path. It is acetylated to a lesser extent, than other streptocides (to 5 — 10%).

It is brought out of an organism with urine, hl. obr. in not changed look, than its rather high performance at infections of urinary tract is caused. Apply E. at the bacterial dysentery, pyelites, cystitis, pneumonia, an erysipelatous inflammation, quinsy, peritonitis and other infections caused by flora, sensitive to drug. Appoint inside, the adult — 1 g of 4 — 6 times a day.

The highest doses for adults inside: one-time — 2 g, daily — 7 g. During treatment plentiful drink is recommended. To children E. appoint in the following single doses: up to 2 years — on 0,1 — 0,3 g; from 2 to 5 years — on 0,3 — 0,4 g; from 5 to 12 years — on 0,5 g every 4 hour. For the prevention of wound fevers the drug is administered in a wound cavity in the form of powder in a dose to 5 g. At the same time it is appointed inside.

AA. causes the same side effects, as well as other sulfanamide drugs (dispeptic frustration, allergic reactions, etc.). Etazolum practically does not cause a crystalluria since it is acetylated in insignificant degree.

Contraindications are same, as well as for other streptocides (diseases of the hemopoietic system, nephrites, nefroza, a hyperthyroidism, intolerance of streptocides).

Forms of release: powder, tablets on 0,25 and 0,5 g. Storage: in well corked container.

For intramuscular and intravenous administration according to the same indications, as AA., use Etazolum sodium (Aethazolum-natrium; synonym: Aethazolum solubile, Aethazolum solubile, Sulfaethidolum Natricum; GFH; joint venture. B); 2 (steam-aminobenzene-sulfamido) - 5 ethyl - 1,3,4-thiodiazol color-sodium; C10H11N4NaO2S2. Molecular weight (weight) 306,34; white crystal powder, we will easily dissolve in water, it is difficult alcohol-soluble.


At indications 10 — 20% apply water solutions of Etazolum sodium to parenteral administration in number of 5 — 10 ml.

Form of release: powder; the ampoules containing 5 and 10 ml of 10 and 20% of solution. Storage: powder —

in well corked container protecting from effect of light; ampoules — in the place protected from light.
