ERITEMOTERAPYYa (Greek erythema redness + therapeia treatment) — use in the medical purposes of an erythema dose of uv radiation.

Formation of an erythema (a limited dermahemia) is defined by difficult processes of a fotobiologicheski-ma (see Photobiology), to-rye cause increase in a blood-groove and lymph flow, increase in permeability of cellular membranes in skin, stimulates activity of enzymes and formation of biogenic amines (see Catecholamines), and also reduces sensitivity of nervous receptors. All this causes acceleration of an angenesis, antiinflammatory, resorptional and soothing action of an eritemoterapiya.

Intensity of an erythema depends on a dose and wavelength of the used Uv-radiation (see. Ultraviolet radiation), from a sex, age, individual sensitivity of skin of the patient to UV rays, conditions of its nervous and endocrine systems, season and other factors. The highest sensitivity of skin to UV rays is noted at children of the first year of life.

Indications to E. inflammatory diseases of skin, acute and hron serve. diseases of a respiratory organs, digestion, urinogenital bodies (cystitis, etc.), muscular system and peripheral nervous system.

Contraindications are the active form of tuberculosis, high temperature of a body, a serious general condition, a hyperthyroidism, a circulatory unefficiency of the II—III stages, renal failures, suspicion on malignant new growths of any localization.

Subject to UF-radiation in erythema doses only the limited site of skin up to 600 cm2 (at children — to 200 cm2). Depending on the purposes of influence and the radiation zone use small (1 — 2 biodoses), averages (3 — 4 biodoses), big (to 5 — 8 biodoses) and gipereritem-ny, massive (over 8 biodoses) doses (see Dosing). Reirradiations are appointed in 2 — 3 days when the formed erythema begins to turn pale. In connection with decrease in sensitivity of skin and mucous membranes to repeated UF-radiations the dose of each subsequent radiation is increased on 25; 50 and 100%. The course of erythematous radiation of one site of skin shall not exceed 4 — 6 procedures, however at treatment of slowly healing ulcers, and also at impact on mucous membranes the number of procedures can be increased to 10 — 12.

Radiations carry out by means of mobile or figurative irradiators (see. Ultraviolet radiation, devices). There are several techniques of carrying out E.: radiation patol. the center, radiation by fields, radiation of the reflexogenic zones corresponding to segments of a spinal cord (see. Segmentary-reflex therapy), fractional irradiation. Radiation patol. the center apply at treatment of wounds and acute inflammatory processes (furuncles, eels, an erysipelatous inflammation, etc.). Nek-ry substances (tetraethyl-diamino-triphenyl-carbohydride sulfate, methylene blue, tincture of iodine, fish oil, various creams) in whole or in part absorb UV rays therefore before the procedure E. they should be deleted from the surface of skin. At radiation by fields the surface of skin which is subject to radiation is divided into several sites (fields) and irradiated on one field daily or every other day. This technique is applied at an aggravation of a number of diseases (bronchitis, pneumonia, radiculitis, intercostal neuralgia, arthritis, etc.). Radiation of reflexogenic zones is carried out preferential to stages of unstable remission of a disease for the purpose of prevention of an aggravation, and also for treatment of neurosises. Most often irradiate so-called collar and trusikovy zones. At the fractioned technique E. radiation is carried out through a perforated localizer — the fabric, impenetrable for UV rays, having numerous openings of 1 cm2. At the subsequent radiations the localizer is moved on not irradiated surface of skin. Most often this technique is applied at treatment of pneumonia at children.

Drugs of iodine, penicillin, and also streptocides at intake increase sensitivity of skin to Uv-radiation that needs to be considered at an eritemoterapiya (see Fotosensibilization). The photosensitizing action on skin also furocoumarins possess (see. The photosensitizing means), to-rykh together with with erythema doses dlinnovolno-
