EPILATION

EPILATION (epilatio; lat. a prefix ekh-, e-, pilus of hair meaning department, deprivation +) — the depilation made with the cosmetic or medical purpose.

The epilation can be temporary — depilation when the depilation which is not affecting hair nipples, or radical at a cut is made depilate together with hair nipples.

The indication to temporary E. various forms of the acquired limited hypertrichosis (see) and fungus diseases of hair are (see the Microsporia, the Trichophytosis, the Favus). Temporary E. the vystriganiya, a sbrivaniye, grindings by pumice and by means of hairremovers — an epilinovy plaster (see Epilin), pitch pencils and other means is carried out by wrest of hair by tweezers. Hairremovers apply in the form of aerosols, creams and powders, potassium sulfide, barium sulfide, strontium sulfide, etc. are a part to-rykh. Hairremovers in the form of aerosols and creams apply on sites of a hypertrichosis once in 10 — 14 days. The hairremover in the form of powders (e.g., barium sulfide of 0,55 g, talc of 9,45 g) is previously mixed with warm water, the formed paste is applied on the site of pilosis with spatula, in 15 min. it is deleted, skin is washed by warm 0,5% solution lemon to - you or 2% solution boric to - you, powder talc or grease with the softening cream. It is possible to apply to depilation systematically 10 — 15% solutions of hydrogen peroxide, at the same time along with decolouration fragility of hair appears. The effect occurs quicker at use of the paste consisting of magnesium carbonate — 10 g, 10% of solution of hydrogen peroxide — 20 g, liquid soap — 20 g, spirit of ammonia — 15 — 20 drops. Paste is applied for 15 — 20 min. and washed away by warm water. For E. single hair it is possible to use the pitch pencils prepared from wax and rosin. At numerous temporary E. in case of a hypertrichosis vellus hair can become more rigid and dense; also allergic reactions to use of hairremovers are possible, to-rye are contraindicated at pustulous and inflammatory diseases of skin (e.g., at eczema, neurodermatitis).

Indications to use radical E. various forms of the acquired limited hypertrichosis are; men have also an overgrowth of hair on spin, breast and cheekbones, the grown hair (see Hair). Radical E. (or an electroepilation) it is carried out by means of diathermic current, electrolysis, an electrophoresis with lidazy, high-frequency current, and also electrotweezers. It is carried out by means of the special electrodevices EPV-1, by UVCh-therapies, «Breviflyuks», etc. Efficiency of depilation by methods of an electroepilation depends on correctness of a dosage, quality of devices, needles and technology of carrying out E. K to possible complications at radical E. electroburns of skin treat with development of hems.

Contraindications for an electroepilation are cardiovascular insufficiency, an idiopathic hypertensia II and III stages, a hyperthyroidism, pregnancy, mental diseases, acute infectious and parasitic diseases of skin, eczema, psoriasis, neurodermatitis, etc.

So-called beam E., carried out by means of x-ray emission for temporary or permanent depilation, in a crust, time is not used since at the same time quite often there are permanent injuries of skin. Bibliography: Astvatsaturov K. R.
