ELEKTRONISTAGMOGRAFIYA (+ nystagmos a somnolence + grapho to write, represent electro-(from «electricity»)] — the method of a research of a nystagmus based on graphic registration of changes of biopotentials of an eyeglobe. Elektronistagmografiya supplements and specifies the visual characteristic of a nystagmus since its many features revealed at E. in the form of little changes of a rhythm, amplitude, emergence of multistepped appearance, needle emissions at tops of nistagmenny teeth, are not caught visually. AA. allows to differentiate more reliably defeats of peripheral and central departments of a vestibular analyzer (see).

The eyeglobe electrically is polarized (the retina is loaded negatively, a cornea — it is positive) in this connection there is a korneoretinalny biorest potential (see Bioelectric potential). At the movements of an eye, including caused by a nystagmus (see) there are fluctuations of biorest potential, to-rye it is possible to register by means of an elektronistagmometr. In this electronic measuring device of fluctuation of biopotential amplify and register on a paper strip (see Bioelectric potential, devices for a research of bioelectric potential) in the form of a curve — an elektronistagmogramma.

Determine several indicators of a nystagmus by character of a curve: its direction (horizontal, vertical, mixed, etc.), a rhythm (regular, rhythmical or irregular, dizritmichny), a ratio of duration of bystry and slow phases, a form of tops of nistagmenny teeth (sharp-pointed, flat, two-humped, multidentate). At a caloric nystagmus (see. Nystagmus , artificially caused vestibular nystagmus) also its duration, a rhythm throughout all reaction establish (number of nistagmenny teeth for each 10 sec.).
