DAVOS (Davos) — the climatic mountain resort in Switzerland in the Canton of Graubünden. It is located at the height of 1540 — 1600 m above sea-level in the Retiysky Alps, in the wide valley protected from sowing. winds mountain chain; it is surrounded with the Alpine meadows and a softwood forest. D.'s climate is characterized by small annual average humidity (78%), lack of winds, small cloudiness, a large number of clear days (duration of sunshine in a year of 1878 hours), rare fogs (on average 7 days in a year); rainfall apprx. 900 mm in a year. Summer moderately cool (average monthly temperature of July 12,1 °), winter moderately soft (average monthly temperature of January — 7,4 °). Is one of the best resorts of Europe for treatment of suffering from tuberculosis lungs, especially in winter time. The climatotherapy is applied (gelio-, an air-cure). Treatment of TB patients is carried out in specialized sanatoria where the chemotherapy and if necessary surgical intervention is applied. There are numerous boarding houses and hotels. — the favourite place of tourism and sport, especially alpine skiing.

Indications: pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchial asthma, some diseases of skin and eye (neurodermatitises, eczemas, conjunctivitis).
