CHLORACONUM (Chloraconum; synonym: Beclamidum. Benzchlorpropamide, Hibicon, Nydrane p other; cn. B) — antiepileptic means. N-Benzil-r-hlorpropionamid; C10H12C1NO:

Crystal powder of bitter taste, white or white with a yellowish shade. Practically we will not dissolve in water, it is alcohol-soluble

. Has anticonvulsant activity. breaking distribution of paroxysmal categories on projective ways in a head and spinal cord. Unlike antiepileptic means like phenobarbital (see) does not possess sedative and somnolent action. After intake it is well soaked up in went. - kish. path. At the same time the effect develops in 20 — 30 min. and proceeds apprx. 2 — 3 hour. Biotransformation of Chloraconum occurs preferential in a liver.

Apply at big convulsive attacks. Is much less effective at psychomotor attacks and slightly influences small epileptic seizures. There are data on efficiency of drug at nek-ry types of twilight states (see. Twilight stupefaction), and also about normalization under its influence of mood at the patients inclined to dysphorias. Use of drug at epilepsy at children is considered especially expedient in connection with the high frequency of distribution at them not developed spasms and beseudorozhny attacks.

Appoint inside the adult 0,5 g 3 — 4 times a day after food. If necessary the single dose is increased to 1 g. Adults can appoint drug in daily doses to 6 g. Doses for children make from 0,25 to 0,5 g on reception 2 — 4 times a day depending on age, the frequency of attacks and individual sensitivity to drug. At children 12 years are younger the daily dose shall not exceed

2 g. According to nek-ry schemes Chloraconum is appointed in a combination with phenobarbital that allows to adjust somnolent properties of the last. Cancellation of Chloraconum and replacement with other antiepileptic drugs is made gradually.

By-effects at long therapy by Chloraconum are shown by dizzinesses, increase in irritability, went. - kish. frustration. The agranulocytosis, damage of a liver and kidneys is in some cases possible. In this regard during treatment it is necessary to control a pattern of blood and to watch a functional condition of a liver and kidneys.
