BEKLEMISHEV Vladimir Nikolaevich (1890 — 1962) — the Soviet zoologist, the Dr.Sci.Biol., the academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1945), the honored worker of science of RSFSR (1947), twice the winner of the State award (1946, 1952); the full member Polish AN, the foreign member of the Finnish island on studying of fauna and flora, the WHO expert on malaria. In 1913 ended St. Petersburg un-t and it was left at department of zoology of backboneless animals. In 1918 was entitled the master of zoology and a comparative anatomy. Since 1918 — the associate professor, and from 1920 to 1932 — professor Perm un-that. Since 1932 until the end of life headed Department of medical entomology Ying-that medical parasitology and tropical medicine of Martsinovsky M3 of the USSR.
V. N. Beklemishev is an author more than 180 scientific works among which «Ecology of a malarial mosquito» and «Bases of a comparative anatomy of backboneless animals». The last is published three times in the USSR, and also in Poland, GDR. Romania and England. The first works are devoted to studying of a class of turbellyariya and biocenological bonds in land communities of backboneless animals. Since 1924 started studying of the major problem of that time — malaria; he directed work on biology of arthropods — carriers of diseases, and first of all malarial mosquitoes. He is considered the founder of the Soviet ecological school of medical entomologists. It created the recent trends which gained wide recognition in the doctrine about carriers of diseases, about their vital scheme, their population biology, and also in phenology and a landscape malariology. Profound knowledge of biology of arthropods and epidemiology of the diseases transferred by them allowed V. N. Beklemishev to develop the principles of fight against them and to scientifically prove plans of the held events. Works of V. N. Beklemishev and his numerous pupils played a big role elimination of malaria in our country and beyond its limits. They were given also recent trends in comparative parasitology and anatomy of backboneless animals, new systems and concepts in their evolution are offered.
V. N. Beklemishev conducted big pedagogical work in Moscow un-those and TsIU of doctors; it brought up many doctors and candidates of science. He was a consultant of M3 of the USSR and RSFSR for fight against transmissible diseases, the member of the problem commission, the member of the committee on fight against a tick-borne encephalitis, the associate editor of the «Medical Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases» magazine. Also «the Sign of Honour» is awarded by the Orders of Lenin.
