BANEBERRIES Daniil Semenovich (1886 — 1965) — the Soviet electro-physiologist, the academician of AN of USSR (1957).

Ended St. Petersburg un-t where still the student began research at department of physiology under the direction of

H. E. Vvedensky. For the thesis «To a question of the braking action of a vagus nerve on heart» it is awarded a gold medal. In 1917 defended the dissertation on the subject «Analysis of the Electrocardiogram of Heart of a Frog». In 1922 organized department of physiology at Smolensk un-those. Since 1930 — the manager. departments of physiology Kazan un-that and medical in-that, since 1935 — the department chair of physiology Kiev medical in-that. In 1945 passed to work in Kiev un-t, and in 1956 organized department of an electrophysiology in Ying-that physiology to them. A. A. Bogomoltsa of AN of USSR, the Crimea directed till last days lives.

D. S. Vorontsov is an author apprx. 100 scientific works devoted to hl. obr. fiziol, to the analysis of the electric phenomena in living tissues. He established (1924) that the conductivity of a nerve broken by impact on it of monovalent cations or drugs is immediately recovered if to put the anode to a nerve, and the oppressing action of bivalent cations is removed the annex to a nerve of the cathode (Vorontsov's phenomenon). This fact formed a basis of the subsequent clarification of the mechanism of electric excitability of nervous tissue. D. S. Vorontsov showed that nervous impulse, the image to-rogo it is possible to see on an oscillograph, differently changes depending on what electric pole (the anode or the cathode) is attached to a nerve. It possesses researches of the electric phenomena accompanying distribution and transfer of nervous impulse through neuromuscular synapses. To them it is established that nervous impulse, except usual bystry action currents, is followed by long trace electronegativity, edges it is better shown at frequent and strong irritations. Investigating the mechanism of pessimal braking of neuromuscular transmission by means of assignment of action currents of a muscle, D. S. Vorontsov showed (1937) that one of mechanisms of such braking is interaction of nervous impulses in nerve terminations. Therefore the termination of tetanic irritation, even for very short span, at Krom drops out only one-two impulses, leads to sharp reduction of pessimal braking (see. Lability ). A series of works of D. S. Vorontsov is devoted to clarification of the nature of the slow electric fluctuations arising in c. N of page and the spinal roots extending lengthways. It for the first time registered positive electrotonic potentials in ventral roots, to-rye there can be reflection of the central processes of braking, and also long negative potentials in response to irritation of a brain trunk matching development of Setschenow's inhibition. It studied also features of slow electric fluctuations in various layers of bark of big cerebral hemispheres. D. S. Vorontsov created school of domestic electro-physiologists.
