ANTIPLAGUE INSTITUTIONS — the specialized scientific and practical institutions of the Ministry of Health of the USSR which are developing and carrying out antiepizootic, a dignity. - the preventive and anti-epidemic actions in the natural centers of plague which are carrying out measures for patrolling of the country from a drift of plague and others epidemic dangerous infectious diseases.

The first antiplague laboratory in Russia organized in Kronstadt in 1899 conducted scientific research, prepared shots of doctors and laboratory assistants, released vaccines and serums. In 1901 it was created antiplague bacterial. laboratory in Astrakhan, and then in Tsaritsyno, Chita, etc. These laboratories laid the foundation for practical antiplague institutions in our country.

In 1918. The Soviet government founded in Saratov State in regional in-t of microbiology and epidemiology of the Southeast of RSFSR (nowadays All-Union research protivochumny in-t «Microbe»), become further the methodical center for the organization of preventive actions in the natural centers of plague (see). Further research profile institutes and antiplague stations were created in the territory of RSFSR, in Transcaucasia, Central Asia and in Kazakhstan.

Antiplague stations will organize carrying out a complex of antiepizootic and sanitary and preventive actions in the natural centers of plague, give advisory and methodical and practical help to bodies and healthcare institutions.

Antiplague in-you conduct research on studying of plague and some other epidemic dangerous inf. diseases, develop new diagnostic methods and prevention of these infections, produce some mediums, diagnostic drugs and vaccines; provide the methodical leadership in activity of subordinated antiplague stations.

Forces of these institutions hold the special antiplague events including epidemiol. supervision of the natural centers of plague; detection of an epizooty of plague in the nature and definition of their borders; overseeing by change of number of rodents — carriers of the causative agent of plague and their ectoparasites for the timely forecast of possible developing of an epizooty; regulation on epidemic indications of number of rodents and their ectoparasites in open stations (see) and settlements; preparation and retraining of medics of the general medical network on epidemiology, diagnosis, clinic and prevention of plague and some other epidemic dangerous inf. diseases; the methodical and practical help in carrying out in need of mass immunization of the population; dignity. - a gleam. work.

The complex of various actions held by network of antiplague institutions in the natural centers of plague provides preservation of epidemic wellbeing on this infection in the USSR.
