ALYMOV Andrey Yakovlevich (1893 — 1965) — the Soviet epidemiologist, the microbiologist and the immunologist; corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1946). The member of the CPSU since 1945.
In 1922 ended Kharkiv medical in-t. In 1934 — 1945 — the research associate, the manager. VIEM laboratories (Leningrad), and then Ying-that pathophysiology and experimental therapy of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (Moscow). Headed departments of epidemiology Naval medical academies (1941 — 1942; 1946 — 1948) and Military-medical f-that TsIU (195—1954). A. Ya. Alymov was the chief epidemiologist of Navy (1942 — 1946) and Soviet Army (1948 — 1951). Since 1954 and until the end of life directed laboratory Ying-that normal and pathological physiology of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences.
A. Ya. Alymov published more than 70 scientific works on questions of epidemiology, microbiology, immunology and infectious pathology. The main researches of A. Ya. Alymov are devoted to studying of infectious diseases with a natural ochagovost. In 1930 — 1934 it defined a role of mites of Ornithodorus tholozani in transfer of the activator of the Persian typhinia, showed gaertneri value B. and V. suipestifer in emergence of complications at this spirochetosis. In 1936 — 1940 he carried out systematic studying of tick-borne rickettsioses to the USSR therefore in the Crimea the Marseilles fever was found and studied. The second direction of works of A. Ya. Alymov — studying of a role of nervous mechanisms in development of infectious diseases and in formation of immunity to them. In experiences of autoinfection causative agents of mosquito fever and brucellosis it found out a number of questions of a pathogeny of these infections and duration of an incubation interval. A. Ya. Alymov developed also means of specific prevention of mephitic gangrenes.
Under the leadership of A. Ya. Alymov it is executed more than 30 candidate and dokt. theses; a number of handbooks on a vaccinal syvorstochnomu to business and epidemiology is issued. A. Ya. Alymov was the author and the editor of articles in 2 prod. BME.
